Řitka lies about 21 km south of Prague, beside the D4 motorway. The first written reference to the village dates to the early 14th century.

The Baroque chateau in Řitka was built around 1650 on the site of a fortress dating from 1416, and now houses the Norma equestrian club. The chateau has an exhibition about jockey Lata Brandisová, still the only woman to win the Velká pardubická, in 1937.
