Tulips

TULIPS

The typical shape of the tulip is reminiscent of the turban worn by Turks during the Ottoman Empire, which is probably where it got its name.

The tulip was very popular with the Turkish sultans, to whom it came through trade caravans from China. It spread to Europe in the 16th century, and from Turkey. At that time, it was a highly valued trade commodity and had a great influence on the economy of the time.
