Dobřichovice lies on both banks of the Berounka, about 23 km south-west of central Prague. It regained town status in 2006.

The first written record of Dobřichovice dates to 6 April 1253, when King Wenceslas I confirmed its donation to the Knights of the Cross with the Red Star. The Baroque chateau with the Chapel of St Jude Thaddeus was a summer residence of the order's grand masters and has returned to the order.
