Řevnice lies on the Berounka beneath the slopes of the Brdy ridge. The town is 9 km south-west of Prague's boundary. At the beginning of 2026, it had 3,786 residents.

The first written mention of Řevnice dates from 1253, and the town received town status in 1968. The Baroque Church of St Maurice was completed and consecrated in 1752. An open-air amphitheatre dating from 1916 belongs to the town and is run by the municipal cultural centre. The local cinema is housed in a Sokol hall from the 1920s and has been run by the Gong association since 2007.
